Walhalla was originally a settlement of German immigrants who left Hamburg, Germany and Bavaria. They first arrived in Charleston and were still in search of a place they could call home. Seeba, purchased 17,859 acres of land for $27,000 from Reverend Joseph Grisham of West Union.
